Sintel is an animation made with Blender, a free, cross-platfrom 3D graphics application. The movie was made in order to show what blender can do, and it looks like it can do a pretty good job. The story isn't very solid, but the graphics look great.
All the contents of this short film are open source so if you want to make something like this, you can. You can go to sintel.org for more information.
watched it all and loved it. The graphics were so vivid, and the scenery was beautiful. You could really see the emotion on Sintels face, a great indication of a good animation.
Wow... I didn't know this program existed. I watched. That slomo section where scales got snagged is probably the most touching moment I think where it sullenly motions "help me". I need to check out this program. I never was able to get around 3D studio max.
Watched it yesterday. Fantastic.
